I believe this depends very much on commitment to treatment. The commitment phase of DBT needs to be taken very seriously and a lot should be done to heighten all chances of full commitment to the therapy and to building a life worth living. Outcomes vary but do show that clients undertaking DBT are significantly less likely to self harm during and after treatment. Anger is reduced, or the ability to manage anger is increased. Admissions to general hospitals for physical treatment are reduced.
